About CommuniKate
CommuniKate with Kate Lockwood Harris connects our everyday interactions to broader social dynamics. I show how shifts in relationships, especially how people talk and connect with each other, can create a more equitable world in which everyone’s needs get met and we all thrive.
I’ve been studying, teaching, writing, and/or researching about communication for more than twenty years, and I earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in Communication Studies. In that time, I’ve taught at five different public universities, presented my research at major national and international conferences, published numerous articles, written two books, and helped individuals and organizations improve their relationships and prevent violence. And not to brag, but I’m gonna: My work has won awards both in the US and abroad, one indicator of its high quality.
In this blog, I share what I’ve learned over the years, and what I’m still learning. CommuniKate with Kate Lockwood Harris increases the reach, impact, and accessibility of what I know. And it gathers a community of people interested in thinking, learning, and working together to build healthier relationships, trauma-informed workplaces, and a more just society.
